Basic Guide to Building a computer

After buying all the parts for your computer you are left with this task. How am I going assemble all this by myself?

Well to start off, first put all the parts you bought for your computer in front of you. These should be the necessary parts of your computer

1. Motherboard

Intel                                                                           AMD

2. CPU (Central Processing Unit)

Intel                                                                           AMD

3. Ram (Random Access Memory)

4. Thermal Paste

5. CPU Cooler

6. Case

7. GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)

8. Storage

9. Fans

10. Power Supply

11. screwdriver
12. Cable Ties

Now that you have all the things you need let's start building.

First, take out the motherboard from your the box and put the motherboard on the box. Then take out CPU from its box. The CPU socket in your motherboard will be covered with a protective plastic cap.
You will see a metal lever. Press down on it then pull it gently to the sides to open the socket tray.
While placing the CPU on the motherboard look out for a yellow notch or triangle shape in both the motherboard and CPU. Align those and gently drop it. While gently putting down the CPU make sure to never touch the pins of the CPU or the motherboard as those are very much fragile. Once the CPU is seated close the socket tray and push the lever down just like you opened it.

If you have M.2 or Nvme as storage then unscrew the M.2 slot (Check your motherboard manual) then put the Nvme storage about 35-degree angle. Push it down screw it. Don't screw tightly. If you have HDD or SSD then just install them in the storage tray in your case.

Now its time to add thermal paste to the CPU. Adding a dot is enough. If you are worried about using too much then don't worry cuz you can scrap it off after applying. (Note: Sme coolers often come with the thermal paste pre applied so do check before applying any on the CPU).

After applying the paste take out the heavy cpu cooler from its box. Depending on the cooler the mounting brackets need to be changed. If you are using the stock cooler that came with your CPU then you don't need to change the brackets otherwise you do need to change it. Installing the cpu cooler is easy just place the cooler on the CPU and screw each side evenly.

Then install the RAM. While installing the Ram do remember to check that the notch matches with motherboard or you will break ram. When push it you will hear a click sound.

Now its time to put the motherboard in the case. Put your Case down on a platform. Align the motherboard screw hole with your Case mounting hole. Then install the I/O shield that came with your motherboard or some motherboard have it pre-installed. Screw the motherboard to the case. Install the GPU. Follow the same instruction as installing a Ram and screw it. Do remember that you need to remove I/O covers (small metal tabs blocking the back panel of your case).

Now take out the Power supply from your box and install it on your case. Mount it. Should be relatively easy to do. Then run the cables through your case. Only the ones you need CPU power cable (4 ~ 8 pins), Motherboard cable (24 pins), GPU power cable (6 ~ 8 pins) and SATA power cable if you install SSD or HDD or both. Now, install all the cable to designated place. (Note: the GPU cable are always split in 2 so should be easy to identify). Remember that you case has wires for power, reset, audio and usb ports. Install them following your motherboard manual as those sockets are in different place for some motherboards.

You are mostly done. You can now either cable manage the back side of the pc or just leave it as is, your choice. Plug is HDMI or DP cable from you GPU to monitor. Mouse and keyboard to usb ports. Plug your PSU power cable and turn on the PSU and click the power button on your case. You computer should start Now. If it doesn't then reseat the Ram again. Use one ram first. Then use both.
