MENTAL BLOCK: A Student’s Biggest Nightmare
MENTAL BLOCK: A Student’s Biggest Nightmare
Mental block also known as brain fog can be described as the lack of ability to focus and lack of motivation. This results in a loss of concentration and the drive to study. Mental blocks can cause a barrier that stands in the way of our creativity, productivity, and motivation.
Students suffer a lot because of mental blocks as it prevents them from focusing on their studies, makes them lose the motivation to study, and make them unable to focus on their studies. Mental blocks can be a student’s biggest nightmare. Sometimes the brightest students also face mental blocks. Thus, they suffer from anxiety, depression, burnout, and many more mental health-related problems. Due to this, they feel worthless, and helpless, and have many more negative thoughts. Their brain gets filled with so much negativity that they think that they will never be able to overcome this situation. They lose the motivation to go on. They lose their will to study and do well in their academic life.
Sometimes mental blocks can happen all of a sudden. Because of that students get confused as to what happened to them. They question their ability to study, they question their capability. They start to compare themselves with other students. They start to think that everyone else is better and far more intelligent than them. They subconsciously belittle themselves and they think that they are incapable of doing well. Even though they want to study and do well in their studies, they can’t seem to focus on their studies. Even when they start to study they lose focus very quickly. They can’t seem to remember or understand any study material or information even how hard they try.
The biggest hurdle students with mental blocks face is that they can’t seem to convince themselves to start studying. They always procrastinate about their studies. Their mindset about not being able to study or not being able to focus on their studies scares them from even starting their studies. They think they will not be able to focus on their studies so they put off studying for some other time. By doing so they are never able to finish their studies in time. Thus they do poorly on their exams. As a result, they feel worthless and their mind gets filled with negative thoughts making them make irrational decisions that could potentially ruin their future or worse, their life.
Most of the time students feel lost because they don’t know where to get help or how to survive this situation. They think they will be stuck in this situation forever without getting any help. And so, they start to isolate themselves. They stop communicating with other people. The worst thing is that if they do poorly in their studies or exams because of mental blocks, nobody even tries to know the reason behind their bad performance. They straight up blame the students for their bad grades and accuse them of slacking in their studies and for not putting enough effort into their studies. This accusation crushes their confidence and hearts and sometimes rather than telling society the actual reason behind their bad grades, they rebel against society which causes more harm to their mental state.
When students are battling with mental blocks, we should not accuse them of being lenient with their studies. Rather than that, we should ask them why they cannot focus on their studies. We should try to find the real reason behind their mental blocks and help them deal with it. We need to make students aware of mental blocks and educate them about it. As well as teach them how to deal with mental blocks so that they don’t feel lost and helpless. Students need to know that anybody can get mental blocks. So, they need to know that they are not dealing with it alone. There are many more people out there who are suffering from the same problem. They need to know that this phase will not stay forever and will pass soon. So, they don’t need to be so harsh with themselves and deal with this problem with a strong mindset.
